Rug Maintenance Guide

Vacuum regularly

We recommend vacuuming your rug once or twice a week, using a vacuum cleaner without rotating brushes to avoid damaging the fibers. High-pile rugs may require more frequent vacuuming. Rugs made from natural materials may experience pilling during the first few months of use, which is normal and will diminish over time. 

Rotate the rug periodically

Change the position of the rug every 3 to 6 months to avoid wear marks in specific areas. This care helps distribute wear evenly across the surface. 

Acting quickly to remove spills from the rug is crucial to avoid stains. Absorb liquids with a highly absorbent cloth and gently pick up solids with a spoon. Treat stains carefully to prevent spreading. After cleaning, make sure the area is thoroughly dried by pressing with an absorbent cloth. 

Light protection

Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade the colors of rugs. To prevent fading, use curtains or blinds to limit direct light on the rug. 

Odor

If the rug has an odor after unpacking, ventilate the area by opening windows and doors, or use fans to speed up the process. In more persistent cases, sprinkle baking soda on the rug and vacuum the next day. 

Furniture marks

To avoid permanent marks caused by furniture, place protectors under the furniture legs and periodically change their position. 

Loose fibers (Sprouts)

If any yarn extends above the surface of the rug, use scissors to cut it to the level of the rest. Do not pull the fibers, as this may cause more to come loose. 

To avoid mold or deformation, periodically check the rug. 

For deeper cleaning, we strongly recommend hiring specialized professionals. 

Hand-Tufted Tencel, Linen, or Viscose Rugs: Professional cleaning through the injection-extraction method is recommended, using low temperatures and controlled pressure. This method helps preserve delicate fibers, preventing deformation or damage.

Hand-Tufted Wool Rugs: Professional water cleaning is recommended, provided the temperature does not exceed 30ºC. It is essential to use a neutral pH soap or detergent to maintain the rug’s integrity and its original appearance. 

While most rugs come with a two-year warranty for normal use, it is important to follow the care instructions. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper maintenance or negligence.
